New York – Wal-Mart Stores would open financial-service centres in 1 000 stores, three months after withdrawing an application to start a bank, the world’s largest retailer said yesterday.
Customers would be able to cash cheques, pay bills and transfer money at the centres, the company said in a statement on its website.
Wal-Mart would also offer its MoneyCard debit card nationally. The card does not require a bank account. – Bloomberg
