Marks & Spencer (M&S) lifted full-year profit 26 percent on the back of strong sales, Britain’s largest clothing retailer said yesterday.
May 23, 2007London – Marks & Spencer (M&S) lifted full-year profit 26 percent on the back of strong sales, Britain’s largest clothing retailer said yesterday.The firm reported net profit of £660 million (R9 billion) for the year to March, compared with £523 million the previous year.
Sales were £8.6 billion, up from last year’s £7.8 billion.
The retailer, which plans to add 10 000 new jobs over three years, aims to double the number of Simply Food convenience outlets and increase online sales to drive future sales gains. It plans to double the number of store refits by the end of the fiscal first-half – Sapa-AP
