Consumer confidence in the first quarter of 2007 reached the highest in 25 years, according to a survey by First National Bank (FNB) and Stellenbosch University’s Bureau for Economic Research (BER).

Brait will reveal Shoprite plans soon

Firms drop out of bid for J Sainsbury

Blackstone and Texas Pacific had pulled out of the group that was bidding for J Sainsbury as the supermarket chain’s founding family opposed an offer of less than £6 (R84) a share, two people familiar with the talks said yesterday.
